Comic Book Auction - How to Sell Comics For Big Bucks With Online Auctions

Selling comics in an online auction can seem like a minefield the first time, but this doesn't need to be the case. While it is easy to make a mistake, for the most part, if you avoid the main pitfalls, you'll get a fair price. In this article I'll discuss how to avoid the main mistakes when selling comics in an online auction.

List Your Comics Properly
The main mistake many people make is to not list their comic(s) properly. They may accidentally put them in the wrong category, only take one or two dark photos, and provide little information. When you list your comic(s), you should double check to make sure everything is correct, take plenty of clear photos, and give as much information as possible. It's better that you ramble rather than saying little or nothing.

Bargain Books

Set A Reserve
You should have an idea of what your comics are worth, and set a reserve. If your comics don't sell the first time, you can always relist them. Many people pick up bargains on online auctions by bidding on badly listed items with no reserve. The sellers may as well have thrown their comics in the trash, given the chump change they get in return. There is no point letting your comics go for peanuts when you know they're worth more. Don't let it happen! Set a reserve, and then the worst-case scenario is that your comics don't sell.

You Can Go Elsewhere!
If you're not getting the price you want by online auction, you can always try elsewhere. You can place a classified ad - which you can do for free on Craigslist, for example - or take your comics to your local comic shop or convention. A local comic book dealer may agree to sell your comics by consignment, meaning he or she sells your comics in exchange for a percentage of the price they sell at. Always remember that if things aren't going your way in online auctions, you can try selling somewhere else.
